About the painting
He looks at the world, and the world does not meet his gaze.
He is no longer surprised.
Some beings carry a truth within them that others refuse to see.
He was born with that lucidity.
To know, without being told, that he would never be chosen.
He is far too ugly to be adopted.
Sometimes, he meets women who invite him into their homes,
who give him a few strokes.
He begins to grow fond of them…
but he is touched as one touches a sad idea.
Then they move away to continue living.
So he returns to the street, and yet…
He tried everything to be adopted,
even a "Chanel" collar to make himself handsome.
Do you think he needs a master,
or that he has been trained to need one?
Poor cat who needs a human to exist.
His life is a suitcase too full for one hand.
And no one to help him carry it.
Watching him walk, you'd think he limps.
And yet, it is not his paw that is weak
