About the painting

My hen Zoé,

I love her.

She's gentle.

Really gentle.

I could watch her for hours,

gamboling in the grass,

pecking at her seeds,

again and again.

Always the same gestures.

Endlessly.

And yet...

she seems content.

In her enclosure,

she doesn't try to leave.

She stays.

Simply.

I'm not making fun of her.

Quite the opposite.

I think she's understood something

that we've lost.

We, we run.

We search.

We want more.

She, no.

She eats,

she walks,

she exists.

And that's enough for her.

Perhaps she does

need a master to live.

But in return...

she has peace.

A peace

that we,

can no longer find.
